End User Licence Agreement

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This agreement sets the rules for installing and using Desktop Plan. Desktop Plan is a product of Essential Plugins LLC, Wyoming, USA (“we”, “us”). “You” means the person who installs or uses it. If you install it for your employer, “you” also means your employer.

By installing Desktop Plan, or by clicking “I accept” in the installer, you agree to this agreement. If you don’t agree, don’t install or use Desktop Plan.

This agreement covers using Desktop Plan. Buying Desktop Plan Pro is covered by our Terms of Sale. The two work together. If they ever disagree about payment, refunds or updates, the Terms of Sale apply.

1. Your licence

We don’t sell Desktop Plan itself. We give you a licence to use it. Desktop Plan runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on macOS 13 or later.

1.1 Free version. You may install and use the free version at no cost, at home or at work. It has limited tasks. You may copy the unchanged installer and give it to others, but you may not charge for it.

1.2 Desktop Plan Pro. A Pro licence key unlocks the full program. One licence is for one named person. That person may use Desktop Plan Pro on up to 3 of their own computers at a time. Each user account on a Windows PC or a Mac counts as one computer, and the 3 can be any mix of the two. A licence can’t be shared by a team, a shared login or a shared computer used by several people. Each person who uses Pro needs their own licence.

1.3 Licences bought by a company. A company may buy licences for its staff. Each licence is still for one named person. If that person leaves or changes role, the company may move the licence to someone else by contacting us through our support page.

1.4 Time-limited keys. We sometimes give out keys that stop working on a set date, for example so a company can test Desktop Plan Pro. These follow this agreement too. When the date passes, Desktop Plan goes back to the free version. Each such key works once per computer.

1.5 Updates. Your purchase includes every new version released in the 12 months after you buy, as set out in the Terms of Sale. After that, the versions you already have keep working with no time limit. Newer versions need a renewal. Each update is covered by this agreement, or by the version of it that comes with that update.

2. Activation and the online licence check

Pro needs a one-time online activation. After that, you don’t need an internet connection to open, edit or save plans.

2.1 What is sent. When you activate, Desktop Plan sends our licence server the email address and licence key you typed, a product code, the computer name and user name, and an activation code. The activation code is a one-way code made on your computer. The hardware ID and user account ID it is made from never leave your computer.

2.2 The daily check. Once a day, Desktop Plan checks with our server that the key is still valid. If the check can’t get through, it tries again later. You won’t be stopped from working. Separately, Desktop Plan checks for updates at most once a day, and when you choose Help › Check for updates. That check sends only the key and the release date of your version.

2.3 Your plans stay on your computer. Desktop Plan never sends the contents of your plans to us or anyone else.

2.4 Moving to another computer. You can deactivate a computer inside Desktop Plan. If a computer is lost or broken, you can remove it on the My activations page. The removed computer switches itself off at its next check.

2.5 When a key stops working. We may deactivate a key that is refunded, charged back, unpaid, shared, posted publicly, or used on more computers than the licence allows. Desktop Plan then goes back to the free version. Your plan files are never deleted. You can still open them.

For IT teams: the exact server addresses, ports and data are listed on the IT and network requirements page. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle this data.

3. What you may not do

You may not:

  • share, publish, sell, rent or give away a licence key, or let anyone else use yours;
  • use one licence for more people or more computers than section 1 allows;
  • get around, switch off or fake the activation, the licence check, the free version’s limits or a key’s end date;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or take apart Desktop Plan, except where the law says you may and this can’t be ruled out by agreement;
  • change Desktop Plan, or make or sell a product based on it;
  • sell or charge for Desktop Plan’s installer, or bundle it with something you sell, without our written permission;
  • remove our name, logo, copyright notices or this agreement from Desktop Plan.

4. Who owns what

4.1 Your plans are yours. You own the plans, files and charts you make with Desktop Plan. You may use, share and sell them however you like, including plans made with the free version.

4.2 Desktop Plan is ours. We own Desktop Plan, its code, design, name and logo. Apart from the licence in section 1, this agreement gives you no rights in them.

4.3 Parts made by others. Desktop Plan includes some open-source parts. Each comes with its own licence, and those licences apply to those parts. Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under them.

4.4 Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without paying you.

5. Payment and refunds

Prices, payment, renewals and the 15-day money-back guarantee are in the Terms of Sale. When we refund a purchase, its key is deactivated and Desktop Plan goes back to the free version.

6. Ending this agreement

You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling Desktop Plan. If you break this agreement, your licence ends straight away and we may deactivate your key. When it ends, you must stop using Desktop Plan Pro. Your plan files stay yours, and sections 4, 7, 8, 9 and 11 still apply.

7. No warranty

Desktop Plan is provided “as it is” and “as available”. We work hard to make it reliable, but we don’t promise that it will be free of errors, work without interruption, or suit your particular purpose. You are responsible for checking the dates, costs and other results in your plans before relying on them, and for keeping backups of your files. As far as the law allows, we make no other promises, written or implied, including about merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

8. Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits, lost data, lost business or project delays. Our total responsibility for anything to do with Desktop Plan is limited to the price you paid for your licence. If you use only the free version, it is limited to US $50.

9. If someone makes a claim against us

If you break this agreement, or use Desktop Plan against the law, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim.

10. Export rules

You may not use, send or export Desktop Plan in breach of US export and sanctions laws, or the laws of your own country.

11. Law and general terms

11.1 Law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA.

11.2 Your consumer rights. Nothing in this agreement takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws where you live.

11.3 Changes. We may update this agreement for new versions of Desktop Plan. The version that comes with the release you install applies to that release. The latest version is always on this page.

11.4 The rest. If any part of this agreement can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part straight away, we can still enforce it later. This agreement and the Terms of Sale are the whole agreement between you and us about Desktop Plan.
