This policy explains what information Desktop Plan collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers www.desktopplan.com, our shop at shop.desktopplan.com and the Desktop Plan app for Windows and Mac. Desktop Plan is a product of Essential Plugins LLC, Wyoming, USA.
The short version
Your plans never leave your computer. We collect only what we need to send you the download, sell you a licence and keep that licence working. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use your visits to show you ads on other websites.
What we collect
When you download Desktop Plan. The email address you type on the download page, and the language of the page you used. We use them to email you the download link and a few emails about getting started and about Pro.
When you buy. Your name, email address, billing details and country, what you bought, your order number and your licence key. If you type your email address at checkout but don’t finish, we keep it so we can help with the unfinished order. We also record which website or page brought you to the shop.
When you activate Desktop Plan Pro. The app sends the email address and licence key you enter, the name of your computer, your user name on it and an activation code. This is how we count the computers a licence is used on. You can see and remove them on the My activations page. Once a day the app checks that the licence is still valid. It also checks whether your year of new versions covers the version you have installed, sending only the licence key and that version’s release date.
When you contact us. What you send us, and our replies.
When you visit our websites. Like every website, our servers and our security services see your IP address and browser details. We use them to keep the sites safe and working, and to work out your country at checkout.
What the app does not collect
Desktop Plan does not send your plans, task names, files or any project information anywhere. It has no analytics or tracking inside it. When it checks for updates, it asks only for the update file, with no details about you or your computer. On its first launch, Desktop Plan checks that desktopplan.com/welcome/ is reachable and opens that page once in your web browser. The app sends nothing about you or your computer. The free version also asks our shop once a month whether there is a discount offer. It sends only the date Desktop Plan was first opened on that computer. Like any web request, it reaches our shop with your internet address; the shop keeps a scrambled copy of it for one day, to stop anyone collecting discount codes in bulk. When you click a Buy button in the app, the pricing page it opens says which button you clicked, so we can count which buttons are useful.
Payments
Card payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal payments by PayPal. You type your card details on their secure forms, and we never see or store your full card number.
Emails
After you download Desktop Plan, we send a short series of emails through Mailchimp: the download link straight away, then a few days later an email about Desktop Plan Pro. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link.
Order receipts and licence emails are sent through Google Workspace. They are part of your purchase, so they are sent even if you have unsubscribed from the other emails.
Cookies
Our website and shop use Google Analytics cookies. They help us count visits, see which pages are useful, see where visitors come from, and see how many people download or buy Desktop Plan. Google Analytics shows us totals and trends, not your name or email address.
Two cookies of our own remember which ad or link brought you to our site (for 90 days) and a download number made from your email address (for 400 days). The number is stored with your download and in Mailchimp, so we can tell when a download later leads to a purchase.
The shop uses cookies to make the cart and checkout work, and to remember which page brought you to the shop so it can be saved with your order. The My activations page uses a cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 minutes. Our security service may set a cookie to tell real visitors from automated traffic.
We use Google Ads to measure which ads lead to downloads and sales. When you click one of our ads, we keep the ad’s click number with your download and your order. When you buy, we send Google a scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address, name and billing address you enter at checkout, so Google Ads can count the sale. Google can’t read your details from it.
